After a successful four years of global advocacy, the 4th edition of Global Meetings Industry Day takes place on Thursday 4 April 2019.

We take this opportunity to highlight the true value of international association meetings and communicate the professional, business, academic and economic outcomes they deliver - as well as the impact they have on the heart and soul of meetings: people!

Whatever language or slogan you use to communicate the incredible impact of international meetings, make sure you use Global Meetings Industry Day on 4 April to get your message across to local politicians and opinion leaders!

Here’s 7 ways you can get involved in the conversation on GMID 2019:

1. Share your local advocacy campaigns.

We have actively encouraged our international community in previous years to get involved with Global Meetings Industry Day and share their local advocacy campaigns, and 2019 is no exception! ICCA is encouraging all ICCA members worldwide to share their local advocacy campaigns, whenever they take place, and use GMID on 4 April as a platform to communicate and share success stories between countries. Make sure to include ICCA’s community hashtag #ICCAWorld so we can see how you are celebrating!

2. Share stories of your destination on the Iceberg and in ICCA’s Knowledge Hub.

ICCA and industry-wide advocacy platform "The Iceberg" are partnering up to spread the word on the true value of meetings. If you send us your story in advance, we will include it in our “Legacy of meetings” page in the Knowledge Hub on our website and will promote through ICCA’s online channels on GMID 2019. Please submit your stories to The Iceberg website by sending them to Robert Coren of The Iceberg.

3. Nominate your association meeting to win an Incredible Impacts Programme grant.

Launched in partnership with BestCities Global Alliance, the Incredible Impacts Programme celebrates the “beyond tourism” value of international association meetings and awards grants of US$7,500 to three associations. The winners of each year’s grants are announced at our annual Congress.

4. Submit your association meeting to the JMIC Case Study Project.

Join an elite group of recognised, high profile events to serve as examples to the meetings industry and submit your case study together with your association client.

5. Use the hashtag #GMID19.

On 4 April, use hashtag #GMID19 to share your advocacy efforts with the world. Don’t forget to also use our community hashtag #ICCAWorld so we can amplify your messages to our online community!

6. Have a look at the GMID page for background information and campaign material.

Their sample social media content, event checklists and template event invites (and more) make preparing your campaign incredibly easy.

7. Don't forget to register your event with GMID to make sure it is included in their global tally and promoted by the GMID team.

In 2018, there were 206 registered GMID events! Will yours be included in 2019?
