I write to you this month, barely able to believe we are almost at the end of April, but amazed and proud to see the continued commitment and excitement surrounding the ICCA events that have been taking place so far this year.
As April draws to a close and we’re welcomed into May by a rare period of uninterrupted sunshine here in London, all of us at ExCeL London - as I’m sure many of you have also been doing - are busy preparing for the upcoming edition of IMEX Frankfurt.
Our biggest news this month has been the appointment of our new CEO, former ICCA Regional Director Middle East Senthil Gopinath. Senthil and I look forward to welcoming the ICCA community to IMEX and meeting with you whilst you are in Frankfurt.
Together with the ICCA team, I’m also finalising the large calendar of ICCA events happening alongside the IMEX Frankfurt programme. 2019 marks a new stage in ICCA’s development; these meetings are all about informing and involving you, our members, in your association’s future plans. I encourage those of you attending IMEX to attend the meetings relevant to you!
In particular, please make time to attend the Plenary Session being held on Monday 20 May from 1.00-1.30PM in Inspiration 1-3, Hall 10. As we take our goal of personalising membership services forward, the plenary will be your best opportunity during IMEX to hear the latest news and become informed about new innovations for ICCA members, such as the customised member enhancement packages we’ve been working on since the 2018 Congress in Dubai.
But, the benefits of joining us at ICCA events during IMEX are not just limited to becoming a more informed member. This busy time of year, where the meetings industry comes together under one roof, is a way for our ICCA Family to meet, stay connected, and build bridges with each other that defy and overcome global barriers. So, don’t forget to benefit from other ICCA opportunities happening on-site!
Other annual ICCA highlights are also coming up in the coming months.
With the Early Bird deadline coming up this Friday for the 2019 ICCA AMP, I’d like to encourage you to register and join us in Durban from 18-20 June! I’m excited to be joining the faculty, where I’ll be hosting two sessions surrounding successful collaboration and the future of the association community.
And last, but most certainly not least, the release of the 2018 ICCA Statistics is approaching! Like all members, I’m looking forward to viewing the newest rankings. They present a wonderful chance for ICCA members to advocate for the power of the association community and promote your destinations and services to the meetings industry. Take a read of these tips on how to use the ICCA rankings for effective PR, and please contact Head Office or your Regional Office if you are in search of further advice. The ICCA team are more than happy to help!
