What Procurement Thinks: A Planner’s Guide

While meeting planners and suppliers may not always agree during a negotiation, they’re at least coming from the same place: a place of experience with conferences and events. Insert a procurement executive into the mix, and that assumption flies out the window. Which may be why one procurement director recently advised a roomful of planners to “lobby for a procurement manager with meetings experience.” In fact, she went further, imagining a future where all procurement departments include event SMEs, or subject matter experts: “Mentor planners to select a procurement career path.”
