6 unorthodox approaches to engaging attendees
It’s 8 a.m. at the big industry event. In a bland conference room, attendees are sipping coffee while checking e-mail, as they sleepily wait for the session to start. When the speaker arrives, she proceeds to recite her PowerPoint presentation verbatim to the glassy-eyed audience.
From there, the attendees congregate on the tradeshow floor to the same old layout of booth, drape, and aisle. Then it’s back to more educational sessions based on the same material presented last year. At the end of the day, attendees file into a converted conference room for a networking reception where they pick at appetizers and stand in a long line for the cash bar.
