This Month we get to know better Hilton London Metropole

What was your motivation to join ICCA?

Our motivation to join ICCA stems from wanting to work more proactively towards the associations meetings industry after a multi-million pound refurbishment which has seen most of our bedrooms, all of our meeting space, public areas and bars & restaurants be completely transformed! The Hilton London Metropole is one of the few in Europe that can hold everything an association meeting needs all under one roof, and post-refurb we want to position ourselves as the leading conference hotel in Europe, and working more closely with associations is a way to do that.

Tell us your story. How did Hilton London Metropole get started?

In 1972 The London Metropole Hotel was built on Edgware Road in central London, which hosted around 530 rooms. With 23 floors and 91 meters it is one of the tallest buildings in the City of Westminster and a beacon of hospitality in London. Almost 20 years later, the East Wing was added with 200 rooms and in 2000 Hilton bought the hotel, rebranded it, and added the third, West Wing, with an additional 370 bedrooms. In total the hotel boasts 1100 bedrooms and 35 meeting rooms making it Hilton’s largest property outside of the US.

In February 2020, a massive refurbishment took place and the hotel became a reflection of the amazing city it calls home. The hotel takes you on a journey from East London to West, passing by bars & restaurants inspired by the boroughs one encounters along the way. Our meeting rooms also reflect different areas of London, and you almost experience three hotels within the hotel as each wing has its own distinct look and feel. We also have an immensely strong sustainability ethos, being ISO 9001, 14001 and 50001-certified, single-use plastic free, using 100% renewable electricity etc. But it doesn’t stop there! Our staff uniforms are made from recycled plastic bottles, 90% of our ingredients are sourced from within 100 miles of the hotel and we use digital key to check in guests on their own time, using their own phones – both innovative and environmentally friendly.

The location is unparralelled, just 1 minute walk from Edgware Road tube station, connecting guests to 4 tube lines. We are also a mere 5 minutes walk from Paddington Station, the home of Heathrow Express and most recently, in 2022, the new Elizabeth Line – connecting the hotel to Heathrow and ExCeL London in around 20 minutes.
