Sarawak, Malaysia: The TriBE: Innovation Masterclass for Association was successfully held from 17 – 18 June at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK), Sarawak. The two-day event was organised by the 2016 ICCA Congress Kuching Local Host Committee (LHC); Business Events Sarawak and Borneo Convention Centre Kuching; and supported by ICCA Asia Pacific Regional Office

As part of the Legacy Project of the 2016 ICCA's 55th Congress in Kuching, Malaysia, this programme was designed to act as a community engagement, paving way for the LHC to give back to the local community through certified training programme for associations and industry partners.

According to Business Events Sarawak (BESarawak) Head of Industry Development, Dylan Redas Noel, the comprehensive selection of training sessions is well-crafted to meet today’s industry demands, “Industry partners and Associations need to be on par, and above, with today’s rapidly evolving sector. We must acknowledge the challenges of the industry and encourage participants to think outside the box to lift Sarawak as an innovative second-tier destination through specially designed courses.”

For BESarawak’s Chief Operating Officer, Amelia Roziman, education is the key to Associations’ future achievements to build Sarawak’s legacies, “Associations are extremely important to the building of our society.” she said.

“The variation of research and activities done by Associations creates a platform to exchange knowledge and improve social situations. With the Masterclass, Association members can be more confident about the conferences that they plan and optimise their opportunities to network and impart their findings outside of Malaysia.”

The Masterclass is a training programme under Sarawak’s first professional industry training platform TriBE: Innovation, the education arm of BESarawak, which is designed to give both industry professionals and associations a chance to understand the business sector and equip them for tomorrow’s challenges.

Association specialist consultant, Ms. Deanna Varga, Director of Mayvin Global, Australia, moderated the masterclass, which was attended by 35 participants from national associations from all fields.
