ICCA Researcher of the Month – June 2020

The red update button is your friend! The more you use it, the more concrete information you get. ICCA members - together with the ICCA team - are working hard to achieve a mutually beneficial situation of sharing information on the ICCA Association Database.

Keep finding ways to press it and you'll be in the running to become the next Researcher of the Month - or even Researcher of the Year!

For June 2020, Linda Kimber, from Uppsala Convention Bureau, has secured the coveted title! Here's what Linda had to say:

Uppsala Convention Bureau is the first and so far, the only CVB in the world awarded with researcher of the month three times and researcher of the year one time. How come? In our convention bureau team, we have integrated the database to our daily work so that experienced team members can be role models, learn and inspire new users. We believe that there are no shortcuts when it comes to research. Since March our organization has researched about 4500 potential meetings in the ICCA database.

How is the ICCA database beneficial for your work/organisation?
The database is an excellent tool for our organization to search for potential meetings to our city, Uppsala. The database has many different options, so that our research is easily organized and saves time in our day to day research.

Do you have any tips for your fellow ICCA members?
Always report updates with the red button, it only takes a few seconds and benefits the next user tremendously. When adding personal notes to a meeting profile, add your initials to the notes to inform your colleagues who entered the information. Another great advice is to save every search you make, so you or another member in your organization can easily pick up the search without making a new one.

What positive message would you like to share with ICCAWorld?
Due to the ongoing pandemic, we have had the opportunity to spend a lot more of our time on research. Surprisingly it has also been a good period to discuss future meetings with our local potential hosts too, they are very ready and open to welcome their colleagues to our city in the future. We will see international conventions in the “new normal” future too.
