In the official elections for the ICCA Central European Chapter chairpersons, Karina Grützner, Director Convention Marketing at Stuttgart Convention Bureau has been elected as Chair and Igor Kovacevic, CEO of Serbia Convention Bureau has been elected as the Deputy Chair.
The term for both positions lasts two years. The chairpersons will passionately serve the member community of the second largest ICCA chapter, with a focus on evaluating future challenges and needs, adjusting education events and strengthening networking within the chapter. The design of the education program for the upcoming summer meeting will be one major project. All members are invited to save the date and take part at the summer meeting in Belgrade from 29 – 31 August.
"It was a great honor to work with Anna Górska for the last two years as a deputy chairperson and I feel very privileged to continue her dedicated work for the Chapter as new chairperson. I’m looking forward to working with Igor a passionate ICCA member with a clear vision and creativity and a strong network within the industry," said Karina Grützner. "We will be a great team serving our members and ICCA and I’m delighted to share this exciting, voluntary work with him. I also like to warmly thank Anna Gorska for her passionate and hard work in the last years leading the chapters activities and for her warm and constant support."
Since April 2012, Karina Grützner has been serving at the Stuttgart Convention Bureau. Previous to this, she worked for the Messe Stuttgart as Marketing & Sales Manager for the newbuilt ICS International Congress Centre Stuttgart, as well as in the Events department of the German National Tourist Board. Anna Górska, Expo XXI Warsaw International Expocentre nominated and Matthias Schultze, German Convention Bureau (GCB) seconded her.
For the last 11 years, Igor Kovacevic has been combining academic and professional career in the meetings industry. Working for a national bureau, his main occupation is to establish proactive sales platforms targeting international clients. At the same time, as an assistant professor in the Faculty of Economics at the University of Belgrade, Igor is dedicated to inspiring new generations of tourism and meetings professionals. Roman Raimund Straub from Prague Congress Centre nominated and Aniko Ferenczy from Budapest Congress Center seconded him.
